The Most Important Blackjack Tips
All you need to know when playing black jack – online or not – can be found here. If you can remember everything we’re about to teach you regarding black jack, we have all the reason to believe that you’re soon going to be a black jack professional!
Let’s start!
The odds on playing black jack in land-based casinos are better than playing the game online IF you’re already an expert and able to execute strategies like card counting and shuffle tracking. These black jack strategies require players not only to have keen observation skills but also constant practice!
Since you’re a novice black jack player yourself, it’s best to limit your playing to online games….for the meantime only of course.
There are many variations of the game of black jack. Each variation has its own set of pros and cons but it’s generally better for black jack players to play games that only use three decks or something even fewer.
Insurance is the first thing you should understand when playing black jack. When the black jack dealer reveals an Ace in his sleeves, you can insure your bet just in case he gets a black jack. If he does, your insurance bet wins 2:1. If he doesn’t, you obviously lose.
Many black jack pros tend to discourage players from taking insurance because it’s like taking a bet against yourself.
Surrender is a beautiful option that unfortunately not a lot of black jack tables offer. Surrendering works almost the same way folding does in poker. Only this time, when you surrender your cards in black jack, you lose only half of your bet. In poker, the consequence is a bit more merciless.
If and when you decide to double down – that is, doubling the amount of your original bet – in black jack, always go as high as you can. Never double down for less because that would be like defeating the point of doubling down in the first place.
Don’t pay attention to black jack tables that display “no mid-shoe-entry” signs. These signs are simply for the benefit of the casino (to protect themselves from excellent black jack card counters) and VIP-status players (they just want to, is all). These signs would not affect your game at all.
Positioning is not much of a factor in black jack if you’re an excellent card counter, third base is the best black jack position you could hope for.
